In this session, participants will learn through a participatory process how to meet their CEOs and board chairs where they are and help them be the very best they can be as leaders, role models, and foot soldiers in the fundraising effort. Based on his experiences as a successful CEO, board chair, and consultant, the presenter will share specific examples of good partnership strategies between fundraising staff, CEOs, board chairs, and other roles they influence, such as head of programs and development committee chair. Participants will be encouraged to share their success strategies. Common pitfalls will also be discussed, and ways to overcome them identified. Some general but underappreciated success strategies for fundraising will also be presented and discussed, and participants will be asked to think through how the various ideas presented in the workshop can be applied to their current role.
