There is no doubt that the philanthropic landscape has been revolutionized by the rise of new technology in the last twenty years. Technology developments in the nonprofit sector have brought many benefits, but there have also been unintended consequences.
This session will explore the ways in which technology has transformed relationship building in the nonprofit sector for better and for worse and how nonprofits and technology providers can work together to chart a course forward. Essentially, one-to-one communications are most effective at building close relationships, but this practice can’t scale infinitely. Best practices for building authentic relationships at scale is the cornerstone of this engaging and interactive session.
In addition to prepared content, attendees will be invited to share the unexpected challenges nonprofit technology has exacerbated so that we can discuss creative solutions as a group.
Learning Objectives:
Explore why technology that facilitates one-to-many communication doesn’t scale as well for nonprofits compared to for-profit organizations and discuss strategies for creating workarounds that mitigate this issue
Evaluate strategies to connect at scale with your supporters about their interests rather than what is convenient for personalization in existing practices and tools
Develop questions and topics of discussion to raise with actively engaged major donors and sustainers to raise awareness internally about the kinds of data that will be most valuable to collect about their communities at large
